Forgive me,for I know not what I do.The technicalities of blogging have already defeated me,and I posted my last entry as a comment(the one about SUVS in Cambodia)I seem to have mastered it now,and as I sit here at the end of another holiday,I contemplate life as a single and quite dashing middle-aged man.Cambodia has more public holidays than any other country I know.
Being a superstitious place,we even had what's called the Royal Ploughing Ceremony recently, when the royal oxen are paraded in front of the Royal Palace, invited to partake in certain foodstuffs, and depending on their reaction, the upcoming year's farming is judged. As the occupation of 90% of this country is subsistence farming, this is deemed extremely important.Unfortunately, this time the oxen turned their noses up,hence the whole nation thinks there will be a bad harvest.
Superstition and gambling are a big part of life here.On every street corner there is a game of cards taking place, and it has now spread to betting on the English Premiership.I can't help thinking that this is bad news, but who am I to say that people can't get some pleasure out of life, particularly here.
